In January 2018 we provided Technical Production Support for the 20th Anniversary Show of Milan based Gothic Metal band Lacuna Coil. The '119 Show' was initially scheduled to take place at the O2 Shepherd's Bush Empire, but was transferred to the O2 Forum as demand for tickets had vastly exceeded the original venue's capacity.
The band has a strong association with the UK so London was an ideal city to host the celebration. Fans travelled from across the world to attend the show where the band played songs which they had never performed live before.
SOM Project Manager Neil Denbow collaborated with Lighting Designer Richard Wolfgang who has worked with Lacuna Coil's since 2005, to design and deliver the technical production which brought the creative circus & theatrics alive.
The five piece live band performed alongside Mimes, Stilt Walkers, Aerial Ropes & Silks Artists from Cornwall based Incandescence Theatre Company. Lead singer Cristina Scabbia was flown elegantly above the stage as she performed one number. A parachute harness hidden under her costume incorporated a huge billowing skirt which covered the entire stage.
A custom curved truss structure draped with red and white fabric and strings of festoon lighting was built around the rear of the stage portraying the walls and ceiling of a circus tent. Lacuna Coil's touring lighting package was supplemented with additional Chauvet R2 Wash and Intimidator 350 Spot Moving Light fixtures from our hire stock.
Sound of Music Ltd supplied Sennheiser G3 hand-held radio mics and in-ear monitor systems for the band as well as a Soundcraft Vi1 digital console for Front of House mixing duties. A stage line system was also provided to split the audio channels coming from the band to FOH & Monitor mixing consoles as well as the multi-track audio record which was mixed post event for the 119 Show Live DVD.
